Macao, 23 November 2012
On 23 November, CEM held a Closing Ceremony for the CEM Integrated Training Program (ITP) 2012 which was co-organized by the Macau Institute of Management (MIM) at the Plaza Restaurant. The ceremony was officiated by the Executive Director of CEM, Jorge Vieira, Macau Management Association (MMA) Council Vice-Chairman and Honorary Treasurer, Alex Mok, and MIM Director, Oscar Chan. During the ceremony, certificates were awarded to 20 employees who have completed the program. CEM Executive Directors João Travassos and Bernie Leong, Senior Managers also attended the ceremony.
The Integrated Training Program is launched by CEM to provide systematic management training to young engineers and officers of the company. Since the launch of the program in 2004, CEM has held it for five times, and so far approximately 100 CEM employees have completed the program. After participating in the program, employees could develop their managerial competencies in order to face the current and future business challenges and opportunities of CEM, as well as to improve their operational efficiency and competitiveness, and eventually, prepare them to take up key positions in the future. CEM ITP 2012, composed of nine workshops, covers problem solving and decision making skills, service management, financial management, and negotiation and presentation skills, etc.
In his speech at the ceremony, Jorge Vieira took the opportunity to express his gratitude to MIM and MMA for their support in this training program, and to all the supervisors and colleagues for their support and assistance to all participants to finish the training. As the employees participating in the program have a tight schedule in their different positions and roles in the company, it is not an easy task for them to achieve 100% attendance in the seven-month training program. Therefore, he deeply appreciated the great efforts of the participants in the training program.
Oscar Chan stated that the program was specially organized for a selected group of CEM staff with outstanding performance and potential for further advancement to management level. It has been designed to cover the necessary competencies an effective manager should possess and they were delivered through interactive lectures, self-profiling tools, case studies, role plays, small group discussions, and experiential learning sessions. Throughout the seven months program, participants were asked to reflect on their learning from the program, and apply at work, creating values for their teams and the company. Although the program itself was very demanding, he hoped those involved found it challenging and rewarding. Oscar Chan took the opportunity to congratulate all the participants for successfully completing the program and remind them to apply what they have learnt so that they can contribute to their work. CEM is committed to providing comprehensive training to its staff. In order to help them to achieve outstanding performance, CEM has provided them with different internal training courses to strengthen their skills in management, customer service, occupational safety and interpersonal communication, to promote their career development and help them achieve outstanding performance.
