CEM and CPTTM co-organize seminar on Essential Knowledge of Communal Electrical Installations in Buildings

In order to enhance the understanding of communal electrical installation in buildings of the local operators of property management companies, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) and Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM) jointly organized on November 29, a Seminar on “Essential Knowledge of Communal Electrical Installations in Buildings”, as part of the “Training Series on Property Management”. The Seminar had also the support of Property Management Resources Centre of General Residents Association of Macao, Property Management Business Association and Macau Property Management Professional Association, which delegated 30 managements and representatives to attend the event.
The Seminar was conducted by representatives of CEM Customer Services Department, including Manager of Metering Services Management, Lam Ion Chong, who made a presentation on the “Introduction of the Power Supply in Macao”; Senior Engineer Luella Wong, who shared with the participants the “General Requirements of Power Supply and the Maintenance & Management of Communal Electrical Installation in Buildings”; and Revenue Protection Coordinator, Dragon Ho, who presented the “Safety of Equipment for Power Supply to Customers”.
CEM hopes that this seminar will increase the awareness of the property management industry to the issue of communal electrical installation in buildings and also on the measures that should be taken by the property management staff in case of accident. In addition to the presentation on the situation of power supply in Macao, the speakers also explained to the participants about the rights and responsibilities in respect of communal electrical installation in buildings. They reminded the customers to the need for periodic maintenance and repair of their low-voltage distribution panel, main switchboards, rising cables, rising cable distribution boards and meter boxes, in order to ensure these devices are working in safe conditions at any time. Lack of maintenance will result in serious risks, including electric shock, disruption of power supply and even fire. A presentation was also made on the functions of the equipment for power supply to customers as well as the related rights and liabilities of CEM, customers and property management companies. It has been suggested to the latter the need to maintain a safe and clean power supply environment and to ensure easy access to the metering rooms, and also to ensure that these rooms are not used for other purposes.
After the seminar, CEM also organized on-site visits to the communal electrical installations in Macau Finance Centre and Keng Fung Hou Teng for the participants, aiming to provide them a better understanding on the conditions of the communal electrical installations in commercial and residential buildings, as well as matters that should be taken into consideration. According to the participants, the seminar was rich in content and provided an opportunity for the property management operators to get a better understanding on the relevant working areas, in particular the on-site visits which strengthen their knowledge on communal electrical installations in buildings.
