CEM Ambassadors Team members and Elders from Caritas Macau make Chinese pastry together to celebrate the Chinese New Year
Macao, 5 February 2013
In celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year, CEM held a festive event yesterday (4 February) — CEM Ambassadors and 20 elders from the Caritas Macau Pastrol Services Centre in Areia Preta made Chinese pastry together. CEM Ambassadors Team members arrived at the Catering Services & Cooking Training Centre of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions yesterday afternoon. Under the guidance of the tutors of the center, they made mouth-watering Chinese pastry including fried white radish patty and water chestnut cake together with the elders, who showed great interest in making pastry and asked the tutors many questions. The pastry made together by CEM
Ambassadors Team members and the elders enlivened the festive atmosphere. Thanks to the patient guidance from the tutors, the elders learned a lot about pastry-making. Following the cooking activities, CEM Ambassadors Team presented the pastry as well as some gift packages to the elders and took pictures with them. The event wrapped up in a joyful atmosphere. Apart from CEM Ambassadors Team and Caritas Macau social worker, participants of the activity also included Advisor to CEM Executive Committee Iun Iok Meng and CEM Communications and Public Affairs Senior Manager Cecilia Nip.
CEM has always been caring for the society and serving for the community. It started to offer tariff discounts to its elderly customers in 2003 and and organized CEM Ambassadors Team in 2004, with more than 60 warm-hearted CEM staff having become the registered members. The group holds meaningful community service activities periodically, including seminars on household electricity safety and visits to orphanages and elderly centers during festivals, which manifest CEM’s care and consideration towards the needy people in Macau.
