CEM carries out high-voltage cable renovation works

21 February 2013, Macao

To cope with the Infrastructure Development Office’s tunnel project of COTAI Strip, CEM needs to divert 6 sets of High Voltage cables (66 kV) and the related communication/protection cables. In order to avoid different locations of trench that will have a big impact on the traffic of COTAI strip and avoid any future excavation, CEM is making a cable gallery to strengthen the load capacity of the existing pipeline networks. The construction site is located at the section of Estrada do Istmo near The City of Dreams with a total length of about 550 meters.

In a bid to minimize the impact on the traffic in the area concerned, CEM will implement traffic flow control which has been approved by the Transport Bureau. The construction at day time will occupy one traffic lane. From 20:00 to 7:00 next day or for periodic concrete pouring, it may take up two traffic lanes. The renovation will start by end of February and it is expected to be completed within six months.

During the construction period, CEM would like to remind the drivers to be cautious about the road conditions and follow the temporary traffic signs and indicators. The Company would appreciate the public’s understanding for the inconveniences caused.

CEM has always worked closely and held regular meetings to coordinate the excavation works with the relevant government departments and other public utilities, ensuring that the excavation works are not carried out repeatedly within a short span of time. In addition, CEM strives to minimize the impact caused by the duration and scope of road works on citizens.
