17 Students completed Summer Training Program in CEM
Macao, 30 August 2013
CEM has always been devoted to provide learning opportunities to Macau students. Since the launch of the Summer Training Program in year 1991, CEM has provided internship opportunities for around 600 students. Through personal experience, the trainees are expected to get to know the operation of the company and to be better equipped in the future to integrate into the society.
This year, from June to August, CEM received 12 students from the University of Macau (UM), 5 students from other universities to participate in the Summer Training Program. The 17 trainees were assigned to work in different departments and offices; Customers Services Department; Finance Department; Generation Department; Human Resources Department; Information Systems Department; Network Operations and Maintenance Department; Network Planning, Design and Construction Department; Power and Networks Dispatch Department and Communications and Public Affairs Office. In order to make the internship program more effective, CEM arranged the management staff of various departments to serve as mentors during the training.
During the program, a “Safety & Health Awareness Training” was also organized in order to introduce CEM Safety and Health policy, fundamental knowledge of common hazards, risk and control methods at work, as well as, site visits to various CEM premises to enable a close encounter with different facilities.
The overall feedback is very positive. The students indicated that they were satisfied with the training program, which broadened their views and allowed them to better understand how duties and responsibilities were distributed in a large organization and the professionalism required for working in a power utility company.
