CEM Ambassadors Celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival with Senior Citizens at Vila Madalena Elderly Centre
12 September 2013, Macau
As Mid-Autumn Festival is coming soon, around 20 CEM Ambassadors Team members led by CEM Communications and Public Affairs Senior Manager Cecilia Nip visited Vila Madalena Elderly Centre in Coloane on 11 September.
There are 90 seniors at the elderly centre, most of whom are elderly, disabled and health deprived. Years ago the centre has fully applied electric cooking appliance in the kitchen out of safety concern for the staff and the senior citizens, and CEM has sponsored the elderly centre with part of the cooking devices. On that day, besides visiting the seniors, CEM Ambassadors also paid a visit to the modernized kitchen which all agreed was clean and nice. CEM Ambassadors also sang for the elderly, presented everyone with Mid-Autumn Festival gift packages and took photos with them.
After some quality time together, CEM arranged a special shuttle for seniors with better mobility to visit its Coloane Power Station. During the trip the senior citizens showed great interest in the new things they saw and eagerly raised questions to the CEM guide, filling this trip with more joy. This activity was concluded in a warm and joyful atmosphere.
The seniors’ living has always been a concern of CEM, and CEM provides the seniors with care and support, especially for the underprivileged group. Since 2000, CEM has been offering free safety inspection and rewiring of electrical installation for seniors who are living alone or can’t afford to enhance the safety of their homes, along with a special tariff discount for the elderly. Besides, CEM staff visit various elderly centres every year. For example, CEM Ambassadors Team visited various estates to give out blankets and thermal bottles to the elderly at Christmas in two consecutive years. CEM also organizes visits for the elders to its Coloane Power Station to provide them moments of entertainment and relaxation.
