CEM and General Residents Association of Macau Jointly Promote Energy Saving and Safety
20 May 2014, Macau
With the continuous development of society and economy, application of power in daily life is becoming increasingly diversified. It will cause a waste of energy and even danger, if power is used improperly. To promote energy saving and safety to the public, CEM and the General Residents Association of Macau jointly organized a seminar on “Energy Saving and Safety” in the evening of 20 May at Pak Wai Activity Centre of the General Residents Association, attracting over 80 members to attend. The Seminar was chaired by Vice Director of the General Residents Association of Macau Simon Wong, General Residents Association Building Administration and Resources Centre Supervisor Chon Chong, CEM Customer Services Department Senior Manager Keegan Cheang and Communications and Public Affairs Office Senior Manager Cecilia Nip. At the Seminar, CEM Customer Services Department Customer Contact Management Officer Joyce Lao, Metering Services Engineers Clark Tang and Sin Ka Man introduced “CEM Customer Services”, “Maintenance and Management of Public Electrical Installations” and “Household Energy Saving and Safety”.
Sin Ka Man shared a variety of practical energy saving tips with the attendees, and the applicable changes they can make in their lifestyles to save energy. The move will not only save money and energy but also play a part in environmental protection. Clark Tang explained the types and responsibilities of electrical installations in public buildings and reminded the audiences to check the public electrical installations and carry out maintenance regularly to avoid accidents. In addition, Joyce Lao also introduced CEM’s customer service and clarified the frequently asked questions on government’s subsidy.
After learning the energy saving tips at the Seminar, members of the General Residents Association expressed their confidence in playing a part for the blue sky in Macau through daily energy-saving practices. They immediately enrolled in the “Macau Energy Saving Contest" which is held between May and October. This year the cash prizes for the Champion, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up in “Residential Group” have been increased to MOP5,000, MOP3,000 and MOP2,000 respectively.
