CEM partners with UM again for organizing Professional Diploma Course in Electrical Engineering

University of Macau (UM) and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) jointly organized a three-year evening Professional Diploma Course in Electrical Engineering which is to provide a completed theoretical electrical engineering knowledge to CEM’s technical employees as well as Macau residents who want to learn the professional knowledge of electrical engineering in order to upgrade his/her career development in electrical field.
On 23 September, the Opening Ceremony of “Professional Diploma Course in Electrical Engineering” was officially held at the University of Macau Town Centre. The Ceremony was jointly officiated by Prof. Wong Pak Kin, Associate Dean (Academic Affairs) of Faculty of Science and Technology of University of Macau, João Travassos da Costa, Principal Advisor of the Executive Committee of CEM and Prof. Leung Shing On, Director of Centre for Continuing Education of University of Macau. Prof. Wong Pak Kin pointed out in his speech that there is significance of unmatched demand of the local engineering industry in recent years.
Also, with the previous achievements of hosting training programmes with CEM, these accomplishments have brought positive feedback which further motivates UM to launch this diploma programme in 2014. He is pleased to provide learning opportunity for students who have a passion for developing their unseen talents. Finally, he wishes everyone would take the results of this programme to further contribute to the local engineering industry, while having a fruitful academic experience.
João Travassos indicated that CEM management strongly supports its employees to improve their professional skills through continuous learning. This training is one of the examples which specially arranged for the young technical employees. He also mentioned that UM and CEM had collaborated in the past few years on organizing three sections of “CEM Electrical Power Engineering Training” in which more than 60 CEM’s young engineers had attended and the results is remarkable. It demonstrates again the commitment of CEM on long-term investment in Macau, development in its employees, and active support to the local technical education. Finally he said CEM looks forward to collaborating more with UM on professional training in order to make contribution to the society.
