CEM Continues to Offer TCA Discount for Tariff Group A Customers
17 October 2014, Macau
According to the calculation under the concession contract, the 4th quarter of 2014 Tariff Clause Adjustment (TCA) will be 45 cents per kWh, 1 cent lower than the previous quarter.
To fulfill its corporate social responsibility, CEM announced that it will continue to offer TCA discount for Tariff Group A customers (mainly residential customers and small and medium enterprises supplied with low voltage, covering more than 99% of the total number of customers). With the support from the Macau SAR Government, the 4th quarter TCA for Tariff Group A will be at 37 cents per kWh, means that a total of 8 cents will be subsidized.
On the other hand, TCA for Tariff Group B, C and D will be adjusted to 45 cents per kWh in the 4th quarter in accordance with the contractual calculated value, down 1 cent per kWh.
Since 2008, CEM has been offering TCA discounts to low-voltage Tariff Group A customers in a bid to stabilize the tariff. This move has directly impacted CEM’s income. In 2013 the revenue loss reached MOP 114 million. It is expected to increase to MOP 167 million in 2014. This genuinely proves CEM’s efforts to provide excellent power services for Macau citizens and its commitment to support Macau’s economic development.
