CEM participates in MIECF 2016 with the theme of “Smart Grid”

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) once again sets up an exhibition booth at Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (MIECF) this year to share CEM’s efforts in environmental protection and hope to inspire business to contribute to the environment while operating.
This year, CEM’s exhibition booth themes on “Smart Grid”, which is an electricity network that integrates digital and other advanced technologies, such as sensors, communications and computing, to monitor and manage the transport of electricity from all generation sources to meet the energy needs of the future. Smart Grid is not only more reliable, but also improves the security and efficiency of the energy supply chain as well as integrates renewable energies such as photovoltaic power generation and electric vehicles (EV) into the existing power grid, opening up new opportunities for power demand management.
CEM’s vision on Smart Grid technology is to employ advanced technologies to exceed customer expectations, support the growth of Macau and achieve sustainable stakeholder value while respecting the environment. CEM will proactively develop Smart Grid in 2016, projects include the deployment of fibre-based communications in medium-voltage network, the installation of 60 EV charging stations, the implementation of Pilot Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) with 2,000 meters, the installation of solar panels at 4 substations, and the construction of the new Dispatch Centre by 2019 with the most advanced SCADA/EMS/DMS system.
In addition to allow citizens to learn about Smart Grid, CEM’s exhibition booth also displays the EV charging station currently set up at public car parks, Smart Home demonstration as well as photovoltaic and wind power generation models. Moreover, CEM also sets up a “phone charging station” for all visitors.
With the theme of “Green Economy – Opportunities for Waste Management”, MIECF 2016 will be held from 31 March to 2 April 2016 at The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. CEM’s exhibition booth is located at J20. The first two days are open to industry professionals and the exhibition will be open to public free of charge on 2 April, from 9am to 5pm.
