9 May 2016, Macau

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) lunched “E-Bill Grand Lucky Draw” from last September to this March and received vigorous response with over 1,000 applications for e-bill service from residential customers. The Lucky Draw was carried out at the end of April and the results were announced recently. The prize ceremony was held at the CEM Building at 6pm today. Guests attending the ceremony included Gregory Sun, General Manager of Macao Post Secure Electronic Postal Services; Iun Iok Meng, Advisor to CEM Executive Committee, Keegan Cheang, Senior Manager of Customer Services Department, and Cecilia Nip, Senior Manager of Communications and Public Affairs Office. CEM has always attached great importance to environmental protection and energy conservation. This activity aims to encourage citizens to receive electricity bills with e-bill service. E-bill service not only allows citizens to save time and be more flexible to retrieve electricity bills on smartphones or tablets anytime, anywhere, but also take part in environmental protection. Moreover, customers who apply for SEPBox upon the application of CEM e-bill service will also automatically enter the lucky draw held by Macao Post, winners can receive 2014 Macau Annual Album and Macau Philatelic Album.

Mr. Cheang Wai Lek, one of the winners of the grand prize Apple Watch, expressed at the prize presentation ceremony that the growth of trees is over ten thousand times slower than logging. Social progress accelerates environmental damage, which raises the concerns of humanity’s future. In fact, environmental protection is very simple, just reducing paper use and making good use of electronic technology. Don’t let “convenience” step in your way, but love the earth through achieving environmental protection and the sustainability development for the next generation. Moreover, 25 winners of the MOP200 supermarket coupons have been notified individually. Winners can claim their prizes at Communications and Public Affairs Office, 12F in CEM Building (address: Estrada D. Maria II) during office hours (9:00 – 13:00 and 15:00 – 18:00) before 31 May 2016.

In addition to receive electricity bills with e-bill service to support environment protection, citizens can also use “CEM eService” at www.cem-macau.com or download “CEM e-Service App” to mobile phones. With this App, customers can settle their electricity bills by presenting the “payment QR code” at 7-ELEVEN, Circle K convenience stores in Macau and CEM Customer Service Centres.

To let citizens know more about energy saving as well as CEM’s work and activities, CEM publishes various energy saving tips and activity information on the monthly bill envelope as well as the quarterly customer communication newsletter, LINK. In 2016, CEM will continue to hold a number of activities related to environmental protection and energy saving, including the “Experience Life without Electricity Camp” and “Solar & Capacitance Model Car Races” at Coloane Power Station, “Energy Fun Fair”, “Healthy Eating” Induction Cooking Contest and more.
