The Closing Ceremony of Summer Training Program 2016 undertaken by students from the University of Macau (UM) in the Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) was held at the Theatre of the Students Activity Centre in the UM Hengqin campus at the end of September. Professors from different faculties of UM and representatives from CEM various departments were invited to attend the ceremony. During the ceremony, Wong Pak Kin, Acting Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Macau and Cecilia Nip, Communications and Public Affairs Office Senior Manager of CEM awarded training certificates to 11 trainees.

In their speeches, both Wong Pak Kin and Cecilia Nip highly appreciated all the management members and professors of the UM and the tutors of CEM for their efforts contributing to the success of the program. As a socially responsible company with the mission to cultivate a pool of local talents for the future of Macau, CEM has been actively supporting the education and development of the new generation through different means.

CEM and UM has signed the cooperation agreement since 1991. The Summer Training Program provides an opportunity for UM students to step into CEM every summer to broaden their horizons and apply their academic knowledge at work.

This year, there were 11 students from different faculties of UM participated in the Summer Training Program. They were assigned to seven different departments according to their majors, including Customers Services Department; Finance Department; Generation Department; Human Resources Department; Transmission and Distribution Department; Power and Networks Dispatch Department; Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Office.

The students were satisfied with the training program, which provided them opportunities to realize the professionalism and job responsibilities required for working in a large enterprise.

2016 marks the 25th anniversary of this Summer Training Program. However, the collaboration between CEM and UM does not rest here. CEM and UM are also side by side in different areas. For example, on engineering subject, there are Electrical Engineering Diploma Course and CEM Power System Engineering Course, which are big leap forward of academic and professional cooperation.
