Seventeen schools compete this Sunday at CEM Energy Fun Fair, children up to 16 years old are invited to join to have fun and win plenty of prizes

Companhia de Electricidade de Macau, CEM – S.A. (CEM), with the support of Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, the Youth and Education Affairs Bureau and the Office for the Development of the Energy Sector (GDSE) is hosting again the popular annual event ‘Energy Fun Fair’, which is going to be held at Tap Seac Square on 18 October (Sunday), from 11:00am to 4:30pm. With the younger generation as the primary focus, the theme this year is “green energy for a sustainable future” seeking at promoting the usage of renewable energies as an environmental-friendly way to contribute for a sustainable future for the generations to come.
Children up to sixteen years old are all welcome to join with plenty of games to play. Children will be given game cards with which they can visit the game booths prepared by the schools, GDSE and CEM and collect attractive prizes, including a Power Boy lunch-tools set, a Power Buddies recycled bag and a trendy Power Boy umbrella. Plus, by voting in their favorite school, participants will be entitled to enter a final lucky draw with the chance to win an Apple Watch or an iPad mini 3. Besides playing the booth games, during the event children can also enroll to play games on stage to win cash coupons, and watch the lively performances of the schools.
Moreover, CEM has specially featured a “Renewable Energy Zone”, where children will be able to experience three renewable energies, including wind, solar and kinetic power. They can try by themselves to make their own solar model car, play a round with kinetic power model cars and also make wind blades by disposable plastic water bottles to be installed in a wind generator.
To capture their memory, children and their families can also take instant photos with CEM’s Power Buddies in the Photo Shooting Corner and bring home a photo free of charge.
The participating 500 students from 17 enrolled schools will compete among themselves in three distinct competitions, the “Best Booth Design Contest”, in which they are challenged to design a booth with games associated to the theme of the event for the public to play in; the “Recycled Art Piece Contest”, in which they will have to use their creativity to create art pieces by using solely recycled electric components, and finally the “Talents Competition” in which students will amuse the audiences with great stage performances. Top five schools in each of the competitions will be awarded with attractive cash prizes. Students will also form cheering groups to support their schools and bring a more entertaining and lively atmosphere to the venue.
The seventeen schools include Fong Chong Secondary School (Taipa), Millennium Secondary School, The Workers’ Children High School, Sacred Heart Canossian College - Chinese Section, Sacred Heart Canossian College - English Section, Pui Ching Middle School, Kwong Tai Middle School, Kao Yip Middle School, Tong Nam School, Sam Yuk Middle School (Macau) – English Section, The International School of Macau, The Affiliated School of University of Macau, Portuguese School of Macau, Hou Kong Middle School, Macau Anglican College, Colégio de Santa Rosa de Lima– Chinese Section and Colégio de Santa Rosa de Lima – English Secondary.
