(CEM) and the Office for the Development of Energy Sector of Macau SAR jointly organize Macau Energy Saving Contest this year again to encourage residential customers, property management companies and hotel industry in Macau to save energy and echo with the MSAR Government’s vision of "Building a Low Carbon Macau, Creating Green Living Together".
CEM has held the annual Macau Energy Saving Contest since 2009 with the support from General Residents Association of Macau, Macau Property Management Business Association, and Macau Hoteliers & Innkeepers Association, achieving incredible savings of 154 million kWh of electricity in eight years. CEM expects the Contest will propel the public and the industries to take appropriate energy-saving measures to enhance energy efficiency, so as to bring down the electricity cost and protect the environment.
The Contest is divided into two categories this year - the Residential Building Public Facilities Group and the Hotel Group. Comparison will be based on the six consecutive billing months of electricity consumption from May to October 2017 with the same period in 2016. Participating residential buildings and hotels that save the highest percentage of energy will be the winners of the Contest.
For the Residential Building Public Facilities Group, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Excellence awards will be presented with a certificate to each winner. All participating buildings will receive souvenirs upon enrollment.
The Hotel Group will be subdivided into Hotel Group A (subscribed demand ≦1,600 kVA) and Hotel/Resort Group B (subscribed demand > 1,600 kVA). Gold, Silver, Bronze and Excellence awards will be presented to the winners. On top of the “Energy Saving Concept” Award, there will be a new “Continuous Energy Saving Award” this year to acknowledge the hotel industry for their continuous efforts in energy conservation. Hotels/resorts which participate in this year’s Contest with electricity consumption reduction in the billing months of May to October in 2015, 2016 and 2017 will receive certificates.
