CEM delegations attend the “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Power Industry Services Seminar” in Hong Kong to discuss the reform on smart power services
27 October, 2017
The Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Power Industry Services Seminar, which is held in turn by Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd. (GPG), CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM), welcomed its 22nd edition this year. The Seminar was hosted by CLP this year at Hotel ICON, Hong Kong on October 27, and themed on “Smart x Innovation: Driving Reform and Breakthrough”.
Over the past years, the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Power Industry Services Seminar has become an important platform for the power industry of the three regions to exchange and share their experiences, pushing forward the development and close cooperation. The Seminar delves into hot topics of the industry every year and keeps pace with the times, enabling attendees to absorb the latest knowledge in technology as well as technical experience. The Seminar is dedicated to improving power supply technology and related services in region, in a bid to improve residents’ better living environment through joint efforts.
Bernie Leong, Chairman of CEM Executive Committee, said that the development of artificial intelligence technology will bring subversive influence on traditional industries as well as significant changes to power companies. In the power industry, we should pay attention to policies and strategies related to the development of power informatization in the era of big data, innovative applications of mobile technologies for AC power grid, the development trend of smart distribution network and relevant optimal solutions. The Macau SAR Government has also sped up its pace in smart city development. In August 2017, the Macau Government signed the Framework Agreement of Strategic Cooperation on Smart City Development, under which Macau will make full use of cloud computing and the application of big data’s relevant technologies, build up a centralized service network and new type of smart tourism city, become a smart city to serve its citizens with smart service. Under such environment, CEM will give play to its advantages and continuously optimize grid applications to tie in with the government’s smart city development.
At the Seminar, Thomas Sam, CEM System Dispatch Engineering Power and Networks Dispatch Department Engineer, shared with attendees the “Fiber Manager System”. CEM has been actively promoting the planning and optical network laying projects in order to achieve the automation and intelligence of power grid, as well as the four major objectives of intelligent management: fiber network planning, geographic information of cables, equipment data, and cable logic connection analysis. Ryan Chan, CEM Customer Services Department Customer Contact Management Officer, shared “The Revamp of e-Service Portal”. CEM launched the new e-Service portal with “responsive website design” this year, to further optimize customer service process, and added new features such as “personalized billing information” and “accident reporting” to provide customers with the best browsing experience and more comprehensive one-stop online service.
Keynote speakers of GPG and CLP as well as their corresponding topics included: “Digital innovation brings opportunities” by Timmy Yip, CLP Residential Market Development Officer; “Collaborative business partnership with Sunshine Laundry Convenience Store” by Henry Leung, CLP Senior New Business & Innovation Strategy Manager, Ringo Wong and Apple Kong, Group Founder and Group Director of Sunshine Laundry Convenience Store. “One-stop Operation to Serve the Entire Province – GPG’s Remote Channel Provincial Intensive Operation Practice” by Kang Feng, Head of GPG Business Acceptance Department; “Set Up Intelligent Mechanism for Reading, Verifying and Charging, Innovate Power Marketing Model” by Lin Ruitao, Director of GPG Sales & Marketing Department; “Research and Application of Smart Terminal-based Electric Vehicle Charging Cloud Platforms” by Li Yongpan, Head of Information Center of Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau; and “Based on metering automatic system (AMR/AMI) data mining to promote the development and innovation of marketing data” by Gu Haitong, Head of Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau Metering Centre.
Apart from thesis sharing, the representatives presenting at the Seminar also visited the CLP Smart Energy Experience Centre and Sunshine 24, gaining an understanding of CLP’s intelligent power technologies and the practical applications of its schemes. CLP customer service centre at Yuen Lung incorporates smart home elements as well as products, experience of small-size smart living demo and so forth. Sunshine 24 is a traditional enterprise that has transformed into an intelligent one. It is the first laundry store in Hong Kong to provide self-service laundry as well as drying and automatic laundry services. At present, approximately two-thirds of the dryers in its shops have been converted to electrical ones and equipped with intelligent enterprise system to save energy costs. The case has greatly broadened attendees’ horizons, gaining knowledge in the application of intelligent power technologies and reflecting how power enterprises can help customers and promote the development of society.
Nearly 100 representatives from power companies and industry insiders from the three regions attended the Seminar. Main guests included T. K. Chiang, CLP Managing Director; Quince Chong, CLP Chief Corporate Development Officer; Eric Cheung, CLP Senior Director – Customer & Business Development; Chen Rui, GPG Deputy Chief Economist; Tan Yuekai, Director of GPG Marketing Department; Zeng Xianyi, Deputy Director of Marketing Department of Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau; He Renqiang, Deputy Director of Marketing Department of Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau; Bernie Leong, Chairman of CEM Executive Committee; and Iun Iok Meng, Advisor to CEM Executive Committee, among others.
