15 students completed CEM Summer Training Program
Macau, 31 October 2017
Since the launch of the Summer Training Program in year 1991 with the cooperation agreement between the University of Macau (UM) and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM), CEM has always been devoted to providing learning opportunities to Macau students. Through personal experience, the trainees are expected to get knowledge on the operations of the company and to be better equipped in the future to integrate into the society.
The Closing Ceremony of the Summer Training Program 2017 has taken place at the Faculty of Business Administration Building in the UM Hengqin campus recently. Professors from relevant faculties of UM, CEM Principal Advisor to the Executive Committee Benjamin Yue and Senior Managers from various departments attended the ceremony, during which training certificates were awarded to the trainees as an appreciation of their enthusiasm and dedication during the summer training period.
This year, there were 15 UM students assigned to perform two and a half-month training in different departments of CEM, including Transmission and Distribution Department, Power and Networks Dispatch Department, Customers Services Department, Information Systems Department, Finance Department, Human Resources Department, Regulatory Affairs & Corporate Communications Office, and Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Office.
During the program, a “Safety & Health Awareness Training” was organized for the students with the objective to enhance their work safety awareness through the introduction of fundamental knowledge on common hazards, risk, control methods and CEM Safety and Health policy. Besides, the students also took part in a site visit to several departments and premises of CEM, to have a closer look and understanding of major facilities and infrastructures.
Overall, positive feedbacks were received from the students, in which they were satisfied with the training program and also gained practical knowledge through working in CEM. The training program also provided opportunities for students to realize the professionalism and job responsibility required for working in a local utility company.
