CEM hosts the 6th CEM Solar & Capacitance Model Car Races to promote renewable energy
Macau, 10 September 2018
Further to the tremendous success of holding Solar & Capacitance Model Car Races at Coloane Power Station for the past five years, CEM is going to organize this event again on 23 September 2018 (Sunday). The event aims to enhance local students’ consciousness and recognition of the importance of using renewable energy as an effort to contribute for a sustainable clean environment. This year, for the first time, races will take place at one local secondary school, the St. Joseph Diocesan College 5, with the objective to bring the event to town and have more direct interaction and participation from students and public.
Number of enrolled schools and teams surpassed the previous five editions, with a record of 600 students from 25 schools and 108 teams participating in the event. 66 teams will be joining the “Solar Model Car Race” for F4 to F6 students, while 42 teams will join the “Capacitance Model Car Race” for F1 to F3 students. Besides the winning teams will be awarded with attractive cash prizes and trophies, CEM will sponsor the top 3 in each race to compete in the “HK TREE 2018” to be held in November 2018.
To prepare the students for the races, team leaders and teachers from the participating schools gathered at CEM Building for a pre-race workshop last Saturday. Winners in the previous edition of the races were invited to share their experience with the new participants.
