“CEM Summer Training Program 2019” was completed with success, the closing ceremony has been held at the Theatre of the Students Activity Centre in the University of Macau (UM) Hengqin campus recently. Professors from different UM faculties, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) Executive Committee Principal Advisor Benjamin Yue and Department Directors attended the ceremony.

This Program is organized by Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) for providing learning opportunities to UM students. The program lasted for eleven weeks and commenced in June 2019. Through participating in various work, students gained a deeper understanding about the operation of the Company and be prepared for future integration to the workforce.

This year, there was a total of 18 UM students from different faculties participated in the Summer Training Program. Students were assigned to 7 different departments according to their academic majors, including Customers Services Department, Finance Department, Human Resources & Sustainability Department, Information Systems Department, Power and Networks Dispatch Department, Regulatory Affairs & Corporate Communications Office and Transmission and Distribution Department. Besides, CEM organized a “Safety & Health Awareness Training” for the students with the objective to enhance their work safety awareness. In addition, the students visited different sites and were introduced about Macau’s electricity transmission and distribution network, which allowed them to experience the daily work functions and challenges of CEM’s engineers.

Benjamin Yue expressed his gratitude to all the management members and UM Professors for giving support and assistance to the Summer Training Program. Being a socially-responsible company, one of the key missions for CEM is to take part in educating and training of the young generation. Since the launch of Summer Training Program in 1991 with the cooperation agreement established with UM, the cooperation will be turning to three decades soon.
