CEM organized a visit to three cities in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Qingyuan for CEM Customer Liaison Committee (CLC) members to learn relevant information of power facilities and experience sharing with technology & innovative companies. The 32-member delegation was led by Vong Kok Seng, CLC President, Vice-President of Board of Directors of Macau Chamber of Commerce; Lei Chi Fong, CLC Vice President and Honorary Life President of Macau Goldsmith’s Guild and Iun Iok Meng, CLC Vice President and Advisor to CEM Executive Committee. Bernie Leong, Chairman of CEM Executive Committee; Jane Leong, Director of CEM Customer Services Department; Billy Chan, Director of CEM Transmission and Distribution Department; Evan Liu, Director of CEM Power and Networks Dispatch Department; Cecilia Nip, Director of CEM Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office are the Consultants of the delegation. Delegation members included representatives of local associations in Macau, as well as CEM representatives.

The delegation set off from Macau Lotus Port this morning for three-day visit to three cities in GBA and Qingyuan. The itinerary included visiting the Guangzhou Experience Center of power supply service for GBA's business environment in Nansha, the “Four Grids Integration” project on Meihua Road and Old Nanhai community in Guangzhou, Guangdong Power Grid integrated emergency management base and meter testing center in Qingyuan, Tencent Holdings Limited and DJI Technology Co. Ltd. in Shenzhen, as well as Huawei European town in Dongguan.

Vong Kok Seng said Macau has fully and stringently implemented the "one country, two systems" since its return to China. Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau have always been working closely together to give play to their respective advantages in economic, social, and cultural issues, as well as people's livelihood. Macau has also exerted on its unique advantages to participate in and push forward the construction of the GBA. The State Council released the “Guiding Opinions on Deepening Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation” in 2016, proposing teaming up with Hong Kong and Macau to jointly build the GBA and establish a world-class city cluster. The delegation visited the facilities related to the power industry and technology & innovative enterprises in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan in the GBA, as well as Qingyuan, a city near the GBA. Through the tour, members of the CLC from different sectors of the community could be more knowledgeable about the power industry and learn more about the development of other cities and their enterprises. They will be able to give advice to the Macau SAR Government for the development of Macau and its integration into the overall situation of the national development.

Bernie Leong said in order to enhance the quality of customer services and to listen to customers' opinions, CEM established CEM Customer Liaison Committee in 2000. Apart from regular meetings, CEM also organizes annual visits to different areas for CLC members. In March this year, four power enterprises from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, together with nine energy units, signed the “Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation for Power Enterprises to Serve the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area” in Beijing to promote the construction of the GBA. CEM organized this visit for CLC members to understand how other GBA cities ensure safe and efficient power supply to support the development, as well as how CEM can cooperate with the Macau SAR policies to optimize continuously so as to achieve the sustainability in the development of GBA and infuse momentum into the creation of a world-class GBA.
