The Certificate Presentation Ceremony for the Technical Skills Assessment for Electrical Technicians organized by Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (CEM) was held recently at CEM Building. Out of 52 participants who took the assessment, 39 of them successfully passed the assessment. Mr. Chris Chao, CEM Customer Services Department Director extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the electrical technicians who passed the assessment in his speech and encouraged everyone to continue making concerted efforts and contributions to Macau’s power industry.

The participating electrical technicians first received a fundamental theory training at CEM Training Center, then undertook a comprehensive assessment in the aspects of ‘knowledge’ and ‘skills’. The content and standards of this assessment are based on CEM’s internal specifications, combining theory and practices, which not only allow participants to improve their professional knowledge, but also to enhance professional technical exchanges. Since the launch of the assessment program in 2021, 167 industry practitioners have passed the assessment and awarded with certificates. 

CEM has been committed to promoting the enhancement of professional knowledge and skills level of the industry practitioners, as well as the standardization of technical standards in the industry. Since the beginning of 2021, CEM has invested in an 8,000-square-foot training center to provide skills training and assessment services to the public, with the aim of providing strong support to the industry in talent cultivation and skills enhancement. It is now under discussion to implement the goal of employment with certificate in 2025, which requires all the engineering works involving CEM power supply applications to be performed by personnel who have passed ‘Technical Skills Assessment for Electrical Technicians’. The current ‘CEM Electrical Technicians’ registration scheme will also be optimized following the new requirement.
