CEM holds Rummikub Competition again to raise public concerns about autism

Following the overwhelming response of CEM Rummikub Competition last year, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) has joint hands with the Macau Federation of Trade Unions and the Macao Youth Federation to host the competition again. Rummikub is a game suitable for people of all ages, which can bring people together and enhance interactive communication. Through the competition, CEM hopes to raise public concerns about autism, increase public awareness of autistic groups, promote communication and acceptance, thereby building an inclusive society. All proceeds from the competition without deduction of expenses will be donated to the Macau Autism Association.
The Rummikub Competition is scheduled to be held at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Centre on 29 July (Saturday). The competition is divided into two groups, namely, the School Group and the Open Group. The School Group is open to students of Primary 3 to Form 6, with each team being led by a teacher to join the competition. A total of 40 teams will be competing in the School Group. To encourage intergenerational harmony, this year the Open Group is open to Macau residents aged 8 years old or above to join, with a quota of 160 participants. If the number of enrollments exceed the quota, participants will be drawn randomly by computer. Minors aged 8-12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or a curator. Each of the admitted players will pay a competition fee of MOP100 while the School Group, people aged under 18 and 65 years old or above will be sponsored by CEM. The enrollment period for the competition started from today till 25 June 2023, and the entry list will be announced on CEM Facebook fan page on 29 June.
Not only does the mentally challenging game pledge support for people with autism, Rummikub competition is also a chance for the participants to win fabulous prizes and awards. In the School Group, there will be one winner for champion, first runner-up and second runner-up, who will receive a cash prize of MOP2,000, MOP1,500 and MOP1,000 and a trophy respectively, and each of the five merit award winners will receive MOP500 cash prize. The champion, first runner-up and second runner-up of the Open Group will receive a cash prize of MOP3,000, MOP2,000 and MOP1,500 respectively, and each of the five merit award winners will receive MOP1,000 cash prize.
