CEM has been honored with CEPSI’s Best Paper Award

Han Zheng, Vice President of the People's Republic of China attended the opening ceremony of the 24th Conference of the Electricity Power Supply Industry (CEPSI) and delivered a speech. The conference, which was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province from 20th to 23rd October with the theme of “Low Carbon Energy, Powering a Green Future,” focused on key global issues such as the “dual carbon” target, green low carbon initiatives, electrification development, new power systems, new power markets and integrated energy, fostering in-depth discussions and interactive exchanges. More than 2,700 people including government and enterprise delegates, representatives of international organizations, experts and scholars from 18 member countries and regions of the Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and the Western Pacific (AESIEAP) attended the conference, and 16 representatives from Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) participated.

CEM published a total of 6 papers at the conference, and author representatives shared their research results during the paper presentations. Among them, “AMI-based Smart Loading Analysis in CEM” by Sin Ka Man, Customer Consultant of Technical Services Management Unit of Customer Services Department, stood out among over 600 papers and was awarded the “Best Paper Award” at the conference, providing great recognition for CEM’s work in smart development. Other presenters and topics included: “Digital Transformation in Electric Utilities: A Case Study of a Novel Automated Network Planning Strategy in Macau” by Sam Kam, Engineer of Planning and Analysis Unit of Power and Networks Dispatch Department; “The Application of Hyper-convergence and Virtualization Technologies in Macau Power Data Network” by Angela Chen, Engineer of Energy Business Management Unit of Power and Networks Dispatch Department; “Optical Transmission Network for Macau Power Data Communication” by Antonio Chan, Engineer of System Dispatch Engineering Unit of Power and Networks Dispatch Department; “Digitalization of Monitoring System in Customer Substation” by Henry Fong, Functional Head of Cable and Underground Facilities Unit of Transmission and Distribution Department; “Development of Charging Facilities for Electric Vehicle in Macau” by Hinnes Pun, Engineer of Customer Substation & Electricity Connection Unit of Transmission and Distribution Department.

The conference featured a thematic exhibition, and CEM had also set up a booth at the venue. Other representatives attending the conference include Simon Young, Director of the Transmission and Distribution Department (Power Network Management); Chris Chao, Director of Customer Services Department; Evan Liu, Director of Power and Networks Dispatch Department; Sammy Chan, Director of Information Systems Department, and Cecilia Nip, Director of Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office, etc.

CEPSI is under the patronage of AESIEAP. As the most influential non-governmental organization in the power industry in the East Asia and Western Pacific region, AESIEAP currently has more than 70 formal members and CEM is one of the key members. The AESIEAP’s primary goals are to foster communication among power industries in East Asia and Western Pacific, advance cooperation among its members, and discuss issues affecting the region's power industry by holding international conferences and academic seminars in electric power and related fields to offer potential solutions. CEPSI was held in Shanghai in 2004 and in Macau in 2008.
