Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) has always attached great importance to talent cultivation and the passing down of technical skills. The company has been actively fostering professionals and upgrading the technical level for the power industry to contribute to the development of the industry and society. CEM offered different types of professional training courses in 2023 to ensure that electrical engineers and technicians can continue upgrading themselves.
CEM and the Labor Affairs Bureau co-organized the “Certification Course for Electrical Technicians” in June, September and November 2023 respectively, which were well-received by the industry, with registrations exceeding capacity. CEM hopes that the participants can further enhance their knowledge and technical level through this course, and fully apply the professional knowledge and practical skills they have learned in different positions. The course was taught by CEM senior engineers and technicians, and the curriculum was continuously optimized. Participants who passed the exam were issued a course certificate jointly signed by Labor Affairs Bureau and CEM, and they could even apply to become a “CEM Registered Electrical Technician”.
The “Technical Skills Assessment for Electrical Technicians” was another training program launched by CEM in 2021. It aimed to enhance the professional knowledge and skills of electrical engineers, promote the standardization of technical levels in the industry, and ensure that the construction quality of projects complies with safety standards. To tie in with curriculum development and provide a better teaching and learning environment, CEM has also continuously optimized its training centers and facilities through offering an 8,000-square-foot training center to provide skills training and assessment services to the public.
As of present, 213 participants have completed the “Certification Course for Electrical Technicians” or passed the “Technical Skills Assessment for Electrical Technicians”, while the existing registration scheme for “CEM Registered Electrical Technicians” will also be optimized in accordance with the new standards.
