CEM Ambassadors visit Ming Fai Nursing Home of Caritas Macau to celebrate Chinese New Year with senior citizens
7 February 2024, Macau
With the Chinese New Year around the corner, CEM Ambassadors recently visited the Hac Sa Wan Ming Fai Nursing Home of Caritas Macau. Led by Hellen Lok, Senior Manager of Human Resources and Sustainability Department, nine CEM Ambassadors delivered festive greetings and best wishes to about 170 senior citizens at the nursing home.
After the person in charge of the nursing home showed CEM Ambassadors around the facilities and introduced the daily operations, the group joined the senior citizens in a function room for singing and playing games, breaking the ice with music and interactive activities. Later, accompanied by a CEM staff dressed as the God of Fortune to celebrate the Year of the Dragon, they visited bedridden senior citizens, presenting them with handwritten Fai Chun and wishing them health and happiness.
The elders were looking forward to the arrival of the CEM Ambassadors. They all wanted to "touch" the God of Fortune to get a share of his good luck, and they all grinned from ear to ear. Apart from playing interactive games with the elderly, the CEM Ambassadors also had deep and meaningful conversations with them, learned about their daily lives and preferences, listened to their stories of precious moments and sweet memories, and provided them with warm companionship and care. Before bidding goodbye, the ambassadors presented fruit hampers to the elderly and reminded them to maintain their health, eat well, and to live long, happy lives.
The Spring Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals for the Chinese. CEM hopes that the visit would bring the elderly festive warmth and high spirits to start the new year. The CEM Ambassadors Team was established in 2004, dedicated to voluntary services. Over the past 20 years, the team has regularly launched Community Programs and participated in community charity activities. During festivals, the team visits children in hospitals and the elderly centers, sending love and care to the disadvantaged in Macau and striving to create a warmer and more harmonious community.
