CEM Provides SME Electrical Support Service Consultation at 2024MIECF

Macau, 27 March 2024

The annual environmental event organized by the Macau SAR Government, the “2024 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2024MIECF)” will be held from 28 to 30 March at the Venetian Macao Cotai Expo. Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) once again actively participates in the event, responding to this year's theme “Reaching the Dual Carbon Goals through Green Transformation” by showcasing several low-carbon green power services that align with the national dual carbon goals, as well as support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

CEM is well aware of the development and operational needs of SMEs, therefore, a “SME Electrical Support Service Consultation” counter is specially set up at its booth, allowing customers to understand and enquire about the one-stop technical support currently provided by CEM. SME customers can learn about technical support including electricity demand assessment and analysis, dedicated online and offline follow-up on application progress, and registered electrical contractors’ information. In addition, various green development projects closely related to the daily lives of Macau residents are displayed on-site, such as electric vehicle charging services and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), demonstrating CEM's determination to promote green transformation, and highlighting its actual actions in sync with the national dual carbon goals.

CEM is fully committed to responding to the national call and supporting the Macau SAR Government in achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. The company actively explores the application of new energy sources and smart power network management in line with the direction and goals of developing Macau as a smart city. CEM’s green development goals are to achieve carbon peaking by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, which will be steadily advanced and implemented in three phases. Phase I (2024-2030) focuses on carbon emission peaking, optimizing and adjusting the power development strategy, importing low-carbon and clean energy from the China Southern Power Grid, and utilizing natural gas for local power generation. Phase II (2031-2050) aims for rapid carbon emission reduction. The main emission reduction approach will shift to energy saving, consumption reduction and electricity substitution. Phase III (2051-2060) targets deep decarbonization, participation in working on carbon sinks, and the completion of the carbon neutrality goal.
