To encourage customers to go paperless billing and support environmental protection, as well as promote convenient and quick payment channels, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) initiated a 6-month “Autopay and E-bill Lucky Draw” as a monthly promotion at the beginning of this year. The promotion offered a total prize value of MOP200,000, including the final grand prize, an electric motorcycle, which was awarded to the winner recently. The activity received a very enthusiastic response, with over 80,000 customers switching to e-bills and autopay.

In keeping with the national “dual-carbon” goals, CEM actively supports and aligns with the Macau SAR Government's environmental protection initiatives, encouraging citizens to switch to e-bill service. Customers using e-bills can access their bills anytime, anywhere, and avoid the risk of traditional paper bill delivery errors. Moreover, this helps to create a greener Macau by reducing carbon emissions by 1.2 kg annually. CEM will provide carbon footprint reference data on monthly bills to better help customers learn about environmental information, hoping to encourage the public to understand the carbon emissions associated with every kWh used and effectively practice a low-carbon lifestyle.

CEM has been promoting environmental protection through organizing a range of activities, including co-organizing green workshops with environmental groups and co-organizing the “Macau Energy Saving Activity – 5% Energy Saving Action Lucky Draw” with the Environmental Protection Bureau recently. In August, CEM will organize the “Energizing Tour” for the public to visit the Coloane Power Station and will hold an EV Trunk Eco Market at Tap Seac Square in September, allowing citizens to increase their knowledge of electricity and environmental awareness while also having a chance to win generous prizes.

“Care for the environment” is one of CEM's core values. In addition to increasing public awareness of environmental issues and reducing environmental harm, CEM continues to take practical actions by organizing more environmentally friendly activities for the public. This infuses momentum into Macau's sustainable development and contributes to jointly building a low-carbon Macau.
