220 participants competed in CEM “Let's Get Energized” Street Dance Competition, CEM EV Trunk Eco Market was held with a variety of programs at the same time
Macau, 14 September 2024
Following the enthusiastic response to the first “Let's Get Energized” Street Dance Competition last year, CEM held the competition again at Tap Seac Square on 14 September, allowing more people to appreciate the energetic vibe of the young generation. The competition attracted more than 220 participants to enroll for competitions in different categories. The exceptional dancing skills of the participants lifted the atmosphere of the entire event, showcasing the charm of street dance culture to the fullest.
On the same afternoon, CEM hosted the large-scale event "CEM EV Trunk Eco Market," featuring 7 exciting themed areas, 30 participating units selling green, cultural and creative products, as well as various EV models from different brands, allowing participation from different age groups. Activities included the “Dragon Fruit Seed Potting and Coffee Grounds Recycled Paper Making” Green Workshop, “Power Buddies Cup” Claw Machine Contest, Children’s Electric Go-Kart Experience, “Shadow Play Puppet Making” Green Workshop, Mundane Cosplay Contest and “Forest Guardians” Shadow Play Puppet Show.
There were two categories in the competition, namely “1 on 1 Individual Battle” and “Group Dance”. The "1 on 1 Individual Battle" includes a category for students aged 15 or below and an open category for participants aged above 15. The "Group Dance” category includes a student category for those aged 18 or below and an open category for participants aged above 18. Renowned street dancers including Loki and Mini from Macau, as well as A Ching and Sunny from Hong Kong, were invited as judges. All participants gave their all, striving for good results and receiving high praise from the judging panel. The prizes were awarded after the competition.
The award ceremony was officiated by Bernie Leong, Chairman of CEM Executive Committee, Simon Young, Director of Transmission and Distribution Department (Power Network Management), Chris Chao, Director of Customer Services Department, as well as Cecilia Nip and Jaclyn Iun, Director and Senior Manager of CEM Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office. CEM stated that street dance, as the name suggests, is a vibrant activity that integrates music, rhythm, and body language as an art form and culture, which align with the Macau SAR Government's policy of building a "City of Performing Arts" and a "City of Sports." With Breakdancing made its debut as an Olympic sport this year, it brings a new understanding of street dance to the public. Street dance is no longer considered a subculture but has gained recognition on the Olympic stage, holding unique value. CEM hopes that through the street dance competition, young people can be encouraged to express themselves in a positive and energetic manner, improve their physical fitness, foster teamwork, and develop interpersonal skills through competitive exchanges. At the same time, CEM hopes that young people can find their own interests and develop in a diversified direction. CEM thanked the participants, judges and the audience for their support of the event, making the event successfully held.
The competitions were highly intense, and the judges meticulously scored the participants. The judges also shared their valuable advice with the contestants, making it a meaningful learning experience for them. The winners of CEM “Let’s Get Energized” Street Dance Competition are listed as follows:
