In his speech, Bernie Leong said that the Macau SAR Government has actively implemented the “1+4” appropriate economic diversification development strategy, leveraging the synergistic effect of “tourism plus”, and pushing for a comprehensive recovery of the economy and tourism industry after the pandemic. CEM has launched the one-stop electrical support service for SMEs, aiming to facilitate the collaboration between the Government and the six integrated tourism and leisure enterprises in revitalising the historical areas. As multiple large-scale development projects are underway, Macau’s overall demand for electricity has increased. CEM has always been a strong supporter of Macau’s forward development with its stable power supply. Based on CEM's responsibility, the power supply reliability reached a world-leading level of 99.9999% for the fourth consecutive year and customer satisfaction reached a new high of 91.7%. To align with the Macau SAR Government’s green transportation policy and smart city development, CEM installed more than 2,000 electric vehicle chargers of different speeds and charging standards in 60 public car parks in Macau, Taipa and Coloane, covering 97% of public car parks. At present, the coverage rate of smart meters in Macau reached 90%. The smart meter replacement plan is set to achieve full coverage within this year. With smart meters, customers can have better energy management, which will help improve their energy-saving awareness and contribute to the national "Dual Carbon Goals". Finally, Leong thanked the Macau Chamber of Commerce for its support and re-appointed its Vice President of Board of Directors, Vong Kok Seng to chair the CLC. Leong believed under the leadership of the Committee President, Vice Presidents and Consultant, all Committee Members will continue to join hands with CEM to build a better Macau, adding continuous momentum for a livable, business-friendly, and tourist-friendly Macau.
In his address at the ceremony, Vong Kok Seng said that since the establishment of the CLC in 2000, it has played a crucial role in facilitating communications between CEM and customers from different walks of life. It has witnessed the flourishing development of Macau's electricity industry and made significant contributions to improving the quality of CEM services. With the rapid economic recovery after the pandemic, the demand for electricity has increased. Given factors such as the influx of tourists, population growth, the advancement of smart city construction, the transformation and upgrading of the tourism industry, and the development of green transportation and urbanization, Vong believed that Macau's electricity demand will continue rising in the future. In face of these development trends, CEM shoulders a greater responsibility to provide up-to-date and high-quality electricity services to residents and businesses, and he is adamant that CEM will continue the efforts with renewed vigor and commitment. Finally, Vong expressed his gratitude for the trust and support he received from different associations and CEM, and renewed his position as the President of the 10th Term of CLC. He will work hand in hand with all members to fulfill the responsibilities and join hands with CEM in striving for collaboration with various sectors of the society to add new brilliance to Macau’s international metropolis "golden name card," and contribute even greater efforts to the prosperity and stability of Macau.
Established by CEM in 2000, the CLC consists of 25 representatives from various associations and institutions and 10 representatives from CEM. With the joint efforts of all members, the Committee has been playing the role as a bridge in communications. Through the Committee, CEM is able to gauge the views and demands of different sectors, which will serve as an important blueprint for improving its service quality and developing new services. At the same time, Committee Members can also learn more about CEM’s work through attending the regular meetings, promote CEM's services to the public, and further enhance CEM's transparency.
