CEM leads the Customer Liaison Committee to visit Kunming to see projects on “photovoltaic hydrogen generation” and “photovoltaic storage and charging”

23 October 2024, Macau

Today, CEM organized a visit to Kunming for CEM Customer Liaison Committee (CLC) members to see various facilities and projects of Yunnan Power Grid Co., Ltd. (Yunnan Power Grid), as well as experience sharing. The 26-member delegation is led by Vong Kok Seng, CLC President and Vice-President of Board of Directors of Macau Chamber of Commerce and Wong Kin Chong, CLC Vice President and President of the Industry and Commerce Association of Macau Northern District. Bernie Leong, Chairman of CEM Executive Committee; Jane Leong, Director of CEM Transmission and Distribution Department (Business Development); Chris Chao, Director of CEM Customer Services Department; Evan Liu, Director of Power and Networks Dispatch Department; Cecilia Nip, Director of CEM Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office are the consultants of the delegation. Delegation members include key personnel from associations in Macau, as well as CEM representatives.

The delegation departed from Macau to Kunming via Shenzhen Airport this morning to start a four-day inspection. During the visit, the delegation will visit the "photovoltaic hydrogen generation" and integrated demonstration project for hydrogen energy comprehensive utilization, the "photovoltaic storage and charging" demonstration project at Kunming Municipal Administrative Center, as well as the Production Operation Command Center, V3.0 Substation, “self-healing facility and application, and other digital system” displays and reports of “Chenggong Power Supply Bureau”. The delegation will also visit the Kunming Gaozhu New Village New Urbanization Distribution Network Demonstration Zone and the Kunming City South Patrol and Maintenance Center Digital Production Demonstration Zone.

Yunnan Power Grid has built the country's first integrated demonstration base that combines liquid and solid hydrogen production, storage, and utilization. Earlier this year, the solid hydrogen storage development project achieved grid-connected power generation in Guangzhou and Kunming. This marks the first time in China that photovoltaic power generation has been used to produce solid hydrogen and successfully applied in the power system, representing a milestone in promoting large-scale hydrogen production from renewable energy sources and accelerating the construction of a new type of power system.

The Kunming Municipal Administrative Center utilizes rooftop idle areas to construct a photovoltaic power station that connects to the office area, prioritizing the consumption of clean energy to help reduce carbon emissions. The photovoltaic power generated by this project is primarily for self-use, with excess electricity being able to send back to the grid. Additionally, it provides power for charging stations for electric vehicles, further optimizing Kunming's energy structure, promoting energy conservation and emission reduction, and leading the way in demonstrating the construction of energy-efficient government institutions.

Yunnan Power Grid Kunming Power Supply Bureau established the South District Patrol and Maintenance Center in 2023. It is the first regional intelligent patrol and maintenance center within the China Southern Power Grid system. It controls three 220kV substations and 25 110kV substations, and serves the most critical administrative, transportation, medical, educational, and financial institutions in the city. Additionally, it undertakes 96% of the city's secondary and above-level reliable power supply tasks, characterized by a wide supply area, numerous important users, and high supply reliability.

There are 16 representatives of local associations in this visit. Other members in the delegation include: Jenefin Fong, Vice President of Property Management Business Association of Macau; Ng Kin Wai, Standing Director of Macau Association of Building Contractors and Developers; Lee Koi Ian, Director of Macau Goldsmith’s Guild; Lei Ka In, Vice Director of Association of Property Agents and Realty Developers of Macau; Yuan Han Jun, Vice Director of Macau Institution of People's Alliance; Leong Meng Ian, Vice Director of Macau Federation of Trade Unions; Ada Chan, Vice President of the Women’s General Association of Macau; Ieong Weng Seng, Director of Association of Macau Small and Medium Enterprises of Catering; Yeong Keng Hoi, President of the Industry and Commerce Federation of Islands of Macau; Ieong Ka Wai, Supervisory Board Chairman of Trade and Land Development Association of Macau; Cheang Io Tung, President of the Macau Electromechanics Professionals Association; Tiffany Chung, Vice Director of Macau General Association of Real Estate; Tam Man Kin, Areia Preta Community Service Center Director of General Residents Association of Macau; Andy Tam, Standing Director of Macau Construction Association, and CEM CLC representatives including Joyce Lao, Terence Lam, Emily Cheong and Gorilla Sou.
