To commemorate the 25^th anniversary of the Macau SAR and the 40^th anniversary of the Guangdong-Macau interconnection, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau - CEM, S.A. (CEM) collaborated with the General Association of Athletics of Macau to host the “Celebration of the 25^th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macau SAR and the 40^th Anniversary of Guangdong-Macau Interconnection – 2024 Fourth Round of the Long-Distance Running League: CEM New Year’s Eve Run.” This event will be held on 31 December at the Coloane Power Station. This is the largest event ever organized by CEM to open the Coloane Power Station to public participation. The aim is to encourage the public to enhance their health through long-distance running, increase their understanding of power development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and welcome the new year with a positive attitude, injecting continuous energy into the development of a vibrant Macau.

The event features two race routes, divided into “Open Group” and “Youth Group,” with a total of 1,800 spots available for public participation. The race will start at 7:30 PM, with both the starting and finishing points at the Coloane Power Station. The Open Group route will pass through the Avenida do Aeroporto, Estrada Flor de Lótus, Avenida do Hospital das Ilhas and Rua do Reservatório de Seac Pai Van, covering approximately 8.7 kilometers. The Youth Group route will pass through the Avenida do Aeroporto, with a total distance of approximately 5 kilometers.  All participants who complete the run will receive a medal and a souvenir.

To encourage participants to compete in a vibrant manner, CEM has introduced the “Most Creative Costume Award.” This includes a grand prize of MOP3,000 in cash for one winner, as well as ten excellence awards, each offering a supermarket gift voucher worth MOP500. Participants can choose their costume style freely. Participants interested in the "Most Creative Costume Award" should register at the designated "Most Creative Costume Award" registration booth in the venue during the designated time, and then have their photo taken with the assistance of event staff. Between 11 and 22 November, interested participants can download the registration form from CEM website and Facebook page, bring the completed form with a medical certificate and identification documents to the General Association of Athletics of Macau office at the Olympic Sports Centre for registration.
