CEM receives recognition for its continuous support to Macao Senior Citizens
Macao, 02 April 2012
More than a decade ago, CEM pioneered to launch the Community Program. A project that consists of providing safety checks and rewiring of electrical installations for seniors, citizens with special needs and under-privileged families, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Institute and major social solidarity institutions of Macao, the Caritas Macau, the Women’s General Association of Macau, Macau Federation of Trade Unions, and Macau Special Olympics. More than 150 citizens had their electrical installations enhanced free of charge.
Last Christmas, in collaboration with the Peng On Tung Tele-assistance Services, CEM not only visited the seniors in Toi San area, but also offered blankets and shared unique moments of companionship with them. Having noticed that the electrical installations of some seniors’ home were not in good shape and safe, immediately CEM offered to upgrade their electrical installations free of charge. Both the Peng On Tung Tele-assistance Services’ members and the seniors appreciated CEM’s efforts. One couple of the seniors even sent a thank-you letter to CEM employees to acknowledge their dedication and care.
Mr. and Mrs. Yu said in the letter, “We were very grateful to CEM staff for visiting our home. They were very kind to me and my wife and offered us blankets. It was their caring hearts and actions that touched both of us most. The free upgrade of our electrical installation enabled us to use electricity in a safer and more convenient way.” CEM feels touched by this thoughtful gesture from the community, and emphasizes that CEM always puts the community first, and feels proud to be recognized as a responsible social corporate citizen.
CEM’s care also extends to the islands. For consecutive eight years, CEM invites the senior community of Taipa and Coloane for a banquet to recognize their past contributions and also commemorate with them the Pai Tai Temple Festival. Thousands have already shared this meaningful event with CEM.
